One of our favorite easy, healthy, Non-GMO snacks
So what do we make for three growing kids (and a nursing mama) to snack on that is healthy, organic, Non-GMO, and fits in our budget?
Homemade trail mix, the healthiest and easiest snack ever!!! We just bought nuts and dried fruit in bulk, added whatever seeds and berries we had in the pantry that no one was eating as a snack separately, let the kids dump everything in a big bowl, and bam... organic, Non-GMO goodness in the Eco Womb!
Trail mix is nutrient dense, and tends to stretch farther than a single packaged snack, satisfying our different sweet and salty preferences. Included in this batch are... pumpkin seeds, dried cherries, coconut flakes, peanuts, raisins, pecans, cacao nibs, goji berries, and a sprinkle of dairy-free chocolate chips. You really can add whatever you have on hand, and if needed, buy your remaining ingredients in bulk at your local natural grocer or co-op. Buying in bulk saves money and lasts longer.
So what are your go to healthy snacks? How do you feed a growing family organic and Non-GMO on a budget?
